Seydou Keita (1920 – 2001) was a photographer from Mali, whose striking portraits have a piercing, honest energy. His arresting compositions combine pattern, dark and light forms, and an interplay of two and three-dimensional space in an entirely new way. The images spoke to me when I first encountered them, inspiring me to interpret them as woodcuts.

Portraiture has always fascinated me. “The Collaborators” is a playful print/sculpture I created with artist friend BZ Reily for an exhibit on the theme of "two".
